Oil-Less Scroll

Multiple Scroll Medical Systems are designed to provide medical breathing air for hospital and medical institutions. These systems meet NFPA 99 requirements for Level 1 breathing air. A typical package includes multiple oil-less scroll air compressors and associated equipment, an ASME coded tank, one medical air dryer system, one dew point monitor, one carbon-monoxide monitor and one multiplex control panel. Typically the only field connections required is system intake, exhaust, and power connections at the control panel and between-skid air and power connections. All interconnecting piping and wiring are usually included and operationally tested prior to shipment. The benefits of a scroll system include a small foot-print, very low noise levels, high reliability, and low maintenance costs and fully compliant with NFPA 99 as a complete system.

In operation, one scroll remains fixed and the other attaches to an eccentric, driven by an electric motor. As the moving scroll orbits around the fixed scroll, the pockets formed by the meshed scrolls follow the spiral toward the center and diminish in size. The compressor inlet is at the periphery of the scrolls. The entering gas is trapped in two diametrically opposed gas pockets and compressed as the pockets move toward the center and the discharge port in the fixed scroll. No valves are needed because the discharge port is isolated from the inlet. This reduces noise and improves unit durability.
